MilSpouse Weekly Roundup

I'm very excited to be hosting MilSpouse Weekly Roundup this week! Thank you to Riding the Roller Coaster for starting this roundup! I have really enjoyed connecting with other MilSpouses.

So about me...

I'm married to a great Navy guy! He has been in the Navy for 17 years. We've been together for 3 years and married for 1 and a half years. I was raised a military brat so I'm familiar with the military life but it is different being the wife.

I work in a church and when we started dating J's good friend thought it was hilarious that rowdy J was dating a girl who worked in a church so he called me Churchy. (I was never supposed to know that but J shared) I thought it was cute so I kept it and incorporated it in my blog.

My husband is currently stationed in Japan on a three year tour until 2013. We refer to it as a deployment because he went solo. We weighed the choices of me going and because of the boat ship schedule being out to sea a lot and the fact that I have a great support group here (and the fact that our dogs couldn't go) we decided that I would stay here. It is hard but it has really worked out for the best. And it is getting less hard.

In my spare time (what is that) I like to play with my dogs, bead, read, and currently I love learning to dance at Studio Rio.

When we started dating I gave my husband a key chain that said "wherever you go you are my true north." He loved it because he is a navigator in the Navy. That has stayed with us. I even got a compass rose tattoo with his initials at the top. He tells me I'm his rock. So I keep him grounded and he always guides me home. It works for us.

I love reading everyone's blogs so take a moment and link up!! And take some time to read other's blogs some are funny, some a serious, but all are easy to relate to because we're all in it together.

Next week head over to Many Waters to link up with Poe Kitten!

I'm a new follower. I love the write-up and introduction you posted. I really liked the part about the compass and the rock. That is too sweet.

Thank for hosting the link-up!

Visiting from the Milspouse Weekly Round-Up. Loved reading your story! I'm sure it's super hard being separated for so long but it sounds like you are making the best of it!

Hey! Sorry I didn't leave you a comment earlier...my 5 month old won :)
This is the first time I've participated in a Milspouse blog event, and I am so very glad I did. What a clever idea! I love your story about how you got the nickname. A lot of folks "choose" the geobachelor option as you described, and it seems to work well! I am glad you have your doggies, and I'll bet your husband misses the heck out of you all.

best,
becca

so fun to meet you! I came over through Jennifer Bowen's blog... How is your hubby doing in Japan? My little brother and his family lived in Sasebo up until two years ago (they arein San Diego now). They loved it and my niece and nephew were both born there in a very state of the art Japanese hospital.

My dad's retired AF and my hubby is retired Army and many other military family members...so we are part of an extended military family. :o)

Wish that I didnt miss this blog hop, but look forward to the next one...who did you pass the "torch" to and will be hosting it this coming week?

Blessings & Aloha!
