Coffee: An addiction or a necessity?

3.) How did your love affair with Coffee begin? (Or Diet Coke or Tea or whatever
your beverage of choice might be.) (inspired by
 Buried With Children)
I didn't drink coffee until I started working at McDonald's when I was a freshman in college. Not only didn't I drink it I didn't like it.  Then one morning when I was opening at 5:30 am and I was dragging they suggested coffee instead of my usual Coke. I mixed a bit of creamer and sugar and took my first sip. My initial reaction wasn't love but it did the job of waking me up. And the combination of the cream, the coffee, and the sugar were delightful. It took me a while to find my perfect mixture.
Now I have a precise mixture for my cream, coffee, and sugar. I love a good well blended mocha from Starbucks and it can make a bad day better. But my favorite is a good cup of regular coffee with a good amount of cream and about two packs of sugar. The creamy goodness mixed with the warmth make everything better. On a cold or rainy day it is a perfect pick me up.
My husband picks on me because he claims I am more of a coffee flavored, sweetened, creamer girl than a real coffee drinker but it does the job. I could go without a number of things but never having coffee again would be rough. Oh and no decaf for me...it's the real stuff or no stuff.  And on days when I'm out of half and half I've been known to add Bailey's and/or Kahlua instead. Yummy!!
Thank you to Mama's Losin' It! for the topic...now head over to her site and check out the rest.

The First Step is Admitting You Have a Problem

Hi! My name is Megan and I'm addicted to...

Source

Fruit Ninjas - I have my friend T to blame for this she showed it to me the other night when we were at a friend's birthday party. It is a highly addictive game. So be warned but go check it out.

Once Upon a Time - So the writers of LOST have sucked me in again. I love this show it has great characters, a great story, and a great concept. If you haven't started watching I encourage you to go check it out.

Teavana - I have always loved tea. I in particular love loose tea. And I have discovered Teavana I love the fact that you can mix teas or just drink them on their own. One of my favorites is the White Ayurvedic Chai and Samurai Chai Mate blend. The nice part is it is nice and light so you can drink it straight, with a bit of sugar, or with cream and sugar. If you are a tea person I highly recommend you check them out.

Blue Bloods - Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg...give me a moment...ok I'm back. Seriously though this is a well written cop show that includes a multi-generational Sunday dinner. I really like this show and how the family story runs behind the cop story. Apparently Donnie Wahlberg is a clown on set. Check it out.

Pole Dancing - If ever there was an exercise that didn't feel like an exercise this is it. But it is a great workout! It is also sexy, fun, empowering, therapeutic, and it gives you girl power. I encourage you to take a class near you!

Yoga - My mom did yoga for years when I was growing up and she's offered to teach me. But I admit as much as I love my mom there are some things that it is better if someone else teaches you. So in November I tried Hot Yoga and needless to say that didn't go so well. But I love yoga so I'm continuing to take classes with the goal of increasing my hold in Downward Dog.

So what are some of your addictions?

Addicted

I am realizing I have an addictive personality. I have three major addictions. Food, TV, and biting my nails. I have managed to control my nail biting since about 2003. I still pick but overall I leave them alone. As for TV and Food they are harder.

I love food. I love sweet. I love spicy. I love salty. I love grilled. I love fried. I think you get the picture. I once described to my husband the sensation I get eating a piece of chocolate or drinking a Coke he laughed and said it sounded like a cigarette. I honestly think it is similar. There are days where I lust after chocolate or Coke. I'm working on this and I admit planning ahead is the biggest help for me. If I keep myself full of good stuff I crave less. Also if I allow myself to feel my feelings instead of hiding them with food I do better.

Now TV is a different creature altogether. I have a DVR so I just set it to record everything I want to watch then I go back and watch it. I spend less time watching because I skip commercials but I still spend a lot of time watching. I think right now it is my company. With J being gone being at home can get a little lonely and my beloved dogs can only do so much. So I keep the TV on to entertain and keep myself company. I know that TV is not the best thing to connect with but for now it will remain an addiction. Although tonight I'm going to go to the Y to workout and hopefully watch Charlie's Angels. I'll see how that goes.

What are your addictions?
